The Sunset Lane Education Foundation

The Sunset Lane Education Foundation is a non-profit volunteer group of parents and school staff that raises money to help supplement the diverse and unique educational needs of students that are not met by district funding.  Working collaboratively with the school community, we host fundraisers throughout the year, including the Direct Giving Campaign, Fall Pancake Breakfast, Spring Golf Tournament, and July 4th Fireworks Stand (pending city lottery selection each year).   In addition, we sponsor Parents Night Out near the start of the school year as a way to enhance Sunset Lane's campus community of parents, teachers, and administrators. 100% of the money raised from these events is put back into Sunset Lane--directly supporting the educational needs of every student.

Historically, the Sunset Lane Education Foundation has helped the school's teachers and staff by purchasing technology-related equipment and educational subscription services, including iPads for students, laptops for teachers, and Newsella for teachers to use directly for student learning in the classroom.  In addition, we've underwritten the salary costs of an assistant PE teacher and sponsored the 4th grade recorder program, to just name a few.  In the 2017-18 school year, we have already provided $250 per classroom to help teachers enrich students’ educational experiences and have partnered with the school to fund the new student reading program, Accelerated Reader.

This school year, we are working with the Sunset Lane school community on (1) repurposing what school staff affectionally call the "Pit," a multi-use room adjacent to the school library, into a multi-faceted, technology-rich learning center and (2) implementing enhanced STEAM activities in the classroom curriculum.

With your generous support, we can continue to support teachers and students through our ongoing programs and complete new projects to support every Sunset Lane student wth an education infused with innovative learning experiences.  We invite anyone interested to contact one of the board members or attend a monthly meeting.  The monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of every month at 6 P.M. in the Teachers Lounge and are public and open to anyone.  We are also looking for corporate sponsors that would like to donate money to a worthwhile cause.  We look forward to this school year and hope to continue to meet Sunset Lane's educational needs for each child at the school.

As a California 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, your donation to the Sunset Lane Education Foundation is tax deductible. With your continued support, we can do our part to “Let learning grow."  Thank you for your generous support!
